I’ve Been Scammed! – a Talking Points Lesson Plan for English Reading & Speaking

This is part of the Talking Points lesson series for Intermediate to Advanced students.

The world is full of tricksters and conmen and we have to be on guard at all times.

Once you define the terms of the word scam, you will find that your students know of many different ways to trick people out of their hard-earned cash.

This is the perfect opportunity to allow them to speak up in class – in English – and tell any stories they may have heard about being scammed.

Add some of your own and get feedback from your students.

This lesson plan is designed to create much debate and discussion in your English/ESL class.

The lesson comes complete with:

• a 500-word article

• a table of essential vocabulary

• a big list of questions for discussion

Start the class with the three opening questions and then do the reading. Then you can go through all the vocabulary – or set it as homework for the students to do later.

Then there is a big list of questions that are designed to get your students talking.

It comes in easy to use PDF format, ideal for printing for your needs. Use it again and again for your English/ESL classes.
