Superstitions – a Talking Points Lesson Plan for English Reading & Speaking

This is part of the Talking Points lesson series for Intermediate to Advanced students.

Most countries have their own superstitions. In this class, you can talk about the differences between superstitions in your country and compare them with superstitions in your students’ country.

Some cultures have a very strong belief in good luck and bad luck. You can exploit this in this lesson – and make your students speak English out loud.

This lesson will create a lot of energy in your classroom and make all the students want to participate and speak English. It is perfect for any English or ESL class. Also great for IELTS too.

The lesson comes complete with:

• a 500-word article

• a table of essential vocabulary

• a big list of questions for discussion

Start the class with the three opening questions and then do the reading. Then you can go through all the vocabulary – or set it as homework for the students to do later.

Then there is a big list of questions that are designed to get your students talking.

It comes in easy to use PDF format, ideal for printing for your needs. Use it again and again for your English/ESL classes.
